Affiliate Disclosure

Some licensed sportsbooks pay websites a commission when a reader follows a link and opens an account. That is called an affiliate link. Depending on the agreement, the commission can be a one-time payment for a new account, or a share of what the sportsbook earns from that customer over time. With the second kind, the site earns more when the customer loses more, and you deserve to know that.

We plan to earn money this way in the future. When we do, this page will say which kinds of agreements we use.

Only after the analysis. A sportsbook link will sit at the end of a Deep Dive or similar analysis page, never above it, never on the homepage and never in a headline.

Only where it's legal for you. Before any link is shown, we check the region on your account (or, if you're not signed in, the approximate region of your connection) and show a sportsbook only where it is licensed to take bets there and you are of legal betting age. If we can't tell where you are, or the sportsbook isn't licensed there, you see the analysis and no link.

Every sportsbook link will carry a clear label right next to it, before you click: "Wager Willie may earn a commission if you sign up with a sportsbook through our links. This never changes Willie's analysis." It will sit with a link to our Responsible Gambling page and a problem gambling help line for your region.

We want the connection to be obvious to anyone, not hidden in small print or behind a click. That is the standard advertising regulators in Canada and the US expect for paid relationships, and we intend to meet it.

Willie's model produces its numbers before any commercial decision is made, and the commercial side has no way to change them. A commission, or the lack of one, will not change a fair line, a pick, a Fair Line call, a Top Pick, a hunch or Willie's record.

Sportsbooks can't pay for placement in Willie's analysis, can't pay to be mentioned in it, and can't pay to change or remove a call. Willie will call a line fair whether or not there is an offer anywhere on the page.

We will only email you sportsbook offers if you tick the separate sportsbook offers box on your account page. It starts unticked, and it is separate from Willie's weekly email. Every offer email will carry the same affiliate label and a one-click unsubscribe link.
