Privacy Policy
Willie keeps a public record of every call he makes. Your information is a different story: it stays out of the public record, and we share it only as this policy describes. Here's what we collect, why we collect it and what you can do about it. Wager Willie is run by Vault Media Inc.
Last updated September 30, 2026

Plain-English summary
You can read Wager Willie without an account. If you create one, we collect your email address, a password (stored only in scrambled form), the region you pick and a record that you confirmed you're of legal betting age.
We only send Willie's weekly email or sportsbook offer emails if you tick a box to ask for them, and every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link. We keep a record of those choices because Canadian anti-spam law requires it.
If you subscribe to Willie Pro, our payment processor handles the payment. Your card details go to the payment processor, never to us. We keep a record of your subscription and payments.
We don't use advertising or analytics trackers, we don't sell your information and we don't share it with sportsbooks. A few service providers (hosting, database, email and, for Willie Pro, payments) handle it for us, mostly in the United States. You can ask to see, fix or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@wagerwillie.com. There are a few limits, explained below. For example, we keep proof of email consent.
Who we are
Wager Willie (wagerwillie.com) is run by Vault Media Inc, PO Box 3031, Fredericton NB E3A 5G8, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our Privacy Officer (Privacy Officer, Vault Media Inc) is accountable for how we handle it and can be reached at hello@wagerwillie.com.
What we collect when you browse
You don't need an account to read the site. When you visit, our hosting provider receives the technical details every website receives, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, so it can deliver the page and protect the site.
Our hosting provider also tells us an approximate location (country and, where available, province or state) based on your IP address. We use it to pre-select your region on the sign-up form, which you can change. When you give or withdraw email consent, we also save it in the consent record described below.
If you open the full Deep Dive for an upcoming game without an account, we set a small cookie that remembers which games you opened (up to 20 game IDs and when you opened them), so we can apply the free Deep Dive limit. It doesn't contain your name, email or IP address.
What we collect when you create an account
Email address: to sign you in, send account emails you ask for (like a sign-in link or a password reset) and, only if you agree, Willie's weekly email.
Password: stored only as a one-way scrambled version (a hash), never the password itself.
Region: the province, territory or country you choose, and whether you picked it yourself or kept the location we pre-selected. We use it to show the right legal betting age and, later, to decide whether any sportsbook content is legal where you live.
Age confirmation: the time you confirmed you're of legal betting age, the version of the wording you agreed to and the minimum age it named for your region. We don't ask for your date of birth or ID.
Sign-in sessions: while you're signed in, we store your IP address and browser type with the session, so the session works and we can spot misuse of an account. These are kept only briefly (see How long we keep it).
Deep Dive use: a free account opens a set number of full Deep Dives each calendar month, so we record which games' full Deep Dives you opened and in which month, to count them. Willie Pro has no limit, so we don't count Pro members' Deep Dives.
Ask Willie (Willie Pro): the questions you ask, Willie's answers, and your monthly credit use.
Alerts (Willie Pro): the teams and games you follow, the alert types, quiet hours, time zone, daily limit, and a log of alerts sent.
We don't ask for your name, phone number or date of birth. If you subscribe to Willie Pro, see Payments and Willie Pro below.
Payments and Willie Pro
Willie Pro is a paid monthly subscription, billed in US dollars. Payments are handled by our payment processor. When you check out, you enter your card details on the payment processor's secure page. Your card number never touches our servers, and we can't see it.
What we store about a subscription: the payment processor's customer ID, which links your Wager Willie account to your payment record there; your subscription status (for example active, past due, canceling or ended), the price and billing period and the date it renews or ends; for each payment, the amount, currency, date, whether it was paid, failed or refunded, and a link to the invoice; and a record of the checkout terms you agreed to (the exact wording and its version, the price, when you agreed, the approximate region of your connection and a one-way coded version of your IP address, not the address itself).
The payment processor may ask for your billing country or postal code to process the payment. It keeps that and your card details under its own privacy policy. It tells us about payments and subscription changes through secure notifications, and we keep an ID for each notification so none is handled twice, not its contents.
We use this to give you Pro, show your plan and billing on your account page, handle cancellations and refunds, answer billing questions, prevent fraud and keep the accounting records the law requires. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel, as the Terms of Use explain.
Email and your consent
There are two kinds of marketing email, each with its own box that starts unticked: Willie's weekly email, and sportsbook offers for your region. Willie's weekly email is the Monday Hangover, a recap of how his calls held up. If you have Willie Pro and ticked the weekly email, you also get his Top Picks on Tuesdays. Sign-up shows only the weekly email box. The sportsbook offers box is only on your account page. Leaving a box unticked has no effect on your account.
When you give or withdraw consent, we record your email address, which choice you made, when, where it happened (for example, the sign-up form or an unsubscribe link), the exact wording you saw, the region you picked, the approximate location from our hosting provider, and a one-way coded version of your IP address (not the address itself). This record is how we meet Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), which requires us to be able to prove consent.
Marketing email only goes to addresses that have been confirmed through the link we email you. Every marketing email names Vault Media Inc, shows our mailing address and has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also change your choices on your account page at any time.
Account emails, such as sign-in links, email confirmation, password resets and the welcome email, are sent because you asked for them or they relate to your account. They don't need marketing consent.
For Willie's weekly emails, we keep a record of each send (your address, whether it was sent and the email provider's message ID) so no one gets the same edition twice. If an email bounces permanently, our email provider tells us and we stop sending any email to that address. If someone marks one as spam, we stop marketing email to that address and record it as a withdrawal of consent.
How we use your information
We use your information to run the site and your account, apply the free Deep Dive limits, provide Willie Pro and process its payments, show the right legal betting age for your region, send the emails you asked for, honour unsubscribes, keep a record of consent as the law requires, limit repeated sign-in attempts, keep the site and accounts secure, and answer you when you contact us.
We don't use your information to build advertising profiles, and we don't make decisions about you that have legal or similar effects based only on automated processing.
Who handles it for us
We use a few service providers to run the site. They handle personal information only to provide their service to us, and they are based in the United States.
Our hosting provider: hosts the website, receives the request details described above and stores our database backups in private storage.
Our database provider: hosts our database, where account, consent, email and subscription records are kept.
Our payment processor: processes Willie Pro payments. It receives your email address, your card details (entered directly on its secure page, never on ours) and your billing country or postal code, and it sends us the subscription and payment records described above.
Our email delivery provider: sends our emails and tells us about bounces and spam reports. It receives your email address and the content of the emails we send you.
Our email inbox provider: hosts our email inbox, which receives the messages you send us, including privacy requests.
Our AI provider: helps write Deep Dives and Ask Willie answers. For Deep Dives we send only game and sports data. For Ask Willie, we also send the text of the question you typed, with email addresses and phone numbers removed, but no account details.
We also use sports data providers for scores, odds, injuries and weather. They don't receive any personal information about you.
A list of the service providers who process your personal information is available on request at hello@wagerwillie.com.
If you click a link to another website, including a sportsbook, that site collects information under its own privacy policy. We don't give sportsbooks your email address or account details.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our legal rights, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
Where your information is stored
We're based in Canada, but our service providers store and process personal information in the United States, and may do so in other countries where they operate. For example, our emails are sent from data centres in the eastern United States. While your information is outside Canada, it's subject to the laws of that country, and courts, law enforcement and national security authorities there may be able to access it.
How long we keep it
Account information: while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, as described below.
Sign-in sessions: a session ends when you sign out, or 30 days after your last visit. Signing out deletes the session record. An expired session record, with its IP address and browser type, is deleted about a week after it ends.
Consent record: kept even after your account is deleted, because it's our proof that we had permission to email you. We don't edit or delete the record, so a change of mind is added as a new entry.
Suppression list: if you unsubscribe, an email bounces or you delete your account, we keep your email address on a do-not-email list so we don't mail you again by mistake.
Rate limiting: to stop repeated sign-in attempts, we keep a record of your IP address and which sign-in action it made. It's deleted within two days.
Sign-in, confirmation and reset links: the records behind these links are deleted about a week after the link expires.
Backups: we back up the database weekly. We keep weekly backups for 12 weeks and one backup from each month for 24 months, then delete them. Backups are stored privately and used only to restore the site after a problem. Information you've asked us to delete can stay in older backups until they're deleted on that schedule. If we ever restore the site from a backup, we re-apply deletion requests before the site goes back up.
Ask Willie questions and answers: kept while your account is open; deleted with your account. The monthly credit record holds only internal IDs, credit counts and dates (no question text and no email address), and it is kept after your account is deleted, like payment records.
Alert settings, followed teams and games, and the log of alerts sent: kept while your account is open; deleted with your account.
Support tickets: your messages, our replies and the account details we attach to help (your plan, region and browser type): kept while your account is open; deleted with your account.
Free Deep Dive cookie: up to 400 days, or until you clear your cookies.
Payment records: records of Willie Pro subscriptions, payments, refunds and the checkout terms you agreed to are kept for 7 years after the year they relate to, because tax and accounting laws require us to keep them, and they are kept even if you delete your account. They hold your account's internal ID and the payment processor's IDs, not your email address. The payment processor keeps its own records under its own policy.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy, correct anything that's wrong, or delete your account and personal information. Your region and age confirmation are a record of what you confirmed at sign-up, so they can't be changed on the account page. To fix them, email us.
You can withdraw consent to marketing email at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or the choices on your account page.
Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) gives you these rights. If you live in Quebec, the Quebec private sector privacy law (as updated by Law 25) gives you similar rights, including the right to have your information given to you in a commonly used format. If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have similar rights to know, access, correct and delete your information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information or targeted advertising. We don't do either.
To make a request, email hello@wagerwillie.com, ideally from the address on your account. We may ask you to confirm it's you before we act. We'll respond within 30 days. If we can't do what you asked, we'll tell you why, and you can ask us to reconsider.
If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec if you live in Quebec, or to the privacy regulator where you live.
Deleting your account
You can ask us to delete your account from your account page, or by emailing hello@wagerwillie.com. If you ask from your account page, marketing email stops right away. Within 30 days of your request, we delete your account and everything tied to it: your email address, password, region, age confirmation, sign-in sessions, Deep Dive history, your Ask Willie questions and Willie's answers, your alert settings and followed teams, and our email records for your address. If you have an active Willie Pro subscription, requesting deletion cancels it right away, with no further charges.
We keep only three things, to follow the law and respect your choice: the consent record, your email address on our do-not-email list, and payment records if you ever paid for Willie Pro (see How long we keep it). Copies can also remain in backups until they're deleted, as described above. Our internal log keeps a note that the deletion happened, with an internal account number and no email address.
Adults only
Wager Willie is for adults of legal betting age where they live. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has created an account, email hello@wagerwillie.com and we'll delete it.
We don't sell your information
We don't sell or rent your personal information, we don't share it with advertisers or sportsbooks, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. The consent record stores a one-way coded version of your IP address, not the address itself. Sign-in and Free Deep Dive cookies can't be read by scripts on the page, and the Free Deep Dive cookie is signed so we can tell if it has been altered. Service keys and passwords for our systems are kept out of our code. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes, for example before we add analytics, change how payments work or start sending sportsbook offers. We'll change the date at the top of this page and, for important changes, tell account holders by email or on the site before they take effect. We won't use information you've already given us in a new way that needs your consent without asking you first.
